"Childhood obesity isn't some simple, discrete issue. There's no one cause we can pinpoint. There's no one program we can fund to make it go away. Rather, it's an issue that touches on every aspect of how we live and how we work." ~ Michelle Obama.

Obesity and being overweight share a similar factor being that they both define a person with an excessive amount of body fat that may result in health problems. The difference is that obesity is known to be used as a term for a person's body fat that exceeds what can be considered as overweight. Being overweight certainly has its cons but I won't mention them now but it does have some pros that aren't that well known such as you have higher resistance to poison, and you can be very efficient in pushing heavy objects.

One con of being overweight that I have noticed is that overweight people get picked on or teased because of their physical appearance. These kinds of actions happening may lead to depression, anxiety, and low self esteem. Also teasing someone based on their weight can lead to cyberbullying with actions such as commenting bluntly that may discourage a person to keep on sharing their life’s best moments. Like maybe an extraordinary moment like a first year student’s prom or a beach photo of a class spending their summer together or even a picture of an assortment of food taken during a public gathering. These moments would be a perfect time for a bully or cyber bully to swoop in and make his move and tease or fat shame the person in the picture. But there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. There are famous people that despite their weight, managed to follow their dreams and become successful in their fields. One of these famous people would be Shaquille O’ Neal who was a professional basketball player and is recognized as one of the greatest players of the NBA. His body changed during his transfer to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1996 when he transformed from being 341 pounds in 2002 and then gaining up to 370 in the years 2003 - 2004. Another famous person who now was criticized because of her body is the famous American singer or songwriter Mariah Carey. She was criticized because of her picture posted while having dinner with her boyfriend and people left comments such as ‘ Big woman ’ next to a pig emoji and “Mariah, you need to lose some weight cause you’re starting to look like a whale,” another person said. But I can say that even though these famous icons were either harshly judged, or went through a change in their life, they didn’t let it become an obstacle to their success and if anything it made them stronger.

Overall, being overweight shouldn’t be a reason for Overall, being overweight shouldn’t be a reason for a person to feel bad about him or herself but instead should take those emotions and convert them into willpower with a mindset to strive to make a change that will lead to a better outcome. Secondly, a person must not be judged based on their physical appearance just like the saying ‘ Do not judge a book by its cover ‘. Thirdly, if you ever have some insecurities about your weight, you should always remember the people who experienced the same criticisms and use them as inspiration to lighten up your mood. And always remember that you can talk to someone whenever these insecurities come back to you. Finally, people who are overweight must see this article not as a way to intimidate them but as a wake up call to remind them that although there may be problems, there should always be the willingness to change within.
